Paul, a long-serving employee at Thomas Armstrong, celebrates his 41st work anniversary, marking a remarkable career trajectory from an entry-level position to production manager.
Paul's journey began on June 4, 1984, when he walked into Stocks Brothers, a company that would later become part of Thomas Armstrong. His interview was brief: a simple inquiry about his ability to get up in the morning and his proximity to a bus route. The following week, he received the call to start, earning just £1 an hour.
His first task was scraping excess foam from poly blocks, a humble beginning that laid the foundation for decades of learning and growth. Paul’s career reflects a deep commitment to his trade and the company. He has been involved in significant milestones, including the launch of a new, high-tech HESS plant in 2016. Along the way, he worked alongside industry veterans like Mick Winn, Ken Asprey, and Kevin Brennan, gaining valuable maintenance skills that he still uses today.
Now serving as Production Manager, Paul oversees a solid team, ensuring efficiency and a positive work environment. His tenure has been filled with challenges, successes, and lasting friendships. He recently paid tribute to a dear colleague, Tony Heptonstall, who was with him from the start and sadly passed away earlier this year.
Paul's story is a testament to the value of hard work, loyalty, and a good sense of humor. He remains a key figure at the company, a living example of how dedication can lead to a long and successful career. Forty-one years later, he is still up early and remains a vital part of the Thomas Armstrong Group's team.
